Feather Hair Extensions

I’ve wanted to get feathers put in my hair for awhile now, but the thought of going to a salon to have it done seemed like too much work and too much money. So when I saw a woman putting in feather extensions at a craft fair this past weekend, I had to check it out. She told me it would only take a minute or two and the extension would last anywhere from a couple weeks to a couple months. She also mentioned that you can brush, blow dry and flat iron the feathers. At that point, the only thing stopping me was the price. The pricing varied from $15-$30 depending on the length of the feathers, which were in bundles of four to five feathers. I have pretty long hair, so of course I had to go for the longest, most expensive feathers. I was a little hesitant to pay that much, but I couldn’t resist!

 

When I was all done the woman gave me a few extra micro clips and a threader, then she showed me how to do it myself.

You use the threader to feed the segment of hair through the micro clip.

 

Once you have the micro clip in place, you put the feathers in and clamp the micro clip shut with a plyers. I haven’t had to do it yet myself, so I don’t have a picture yet.

I did some searching online to see if I could find good pricing on feathers to do it myself. On some of the websites, it is hard to tell the quality of the feathers. On other sites you are required to buy feathers in bulk. I’ve come to find out that $30 for the feathers I got is really not too bad. So I’ve decided to buy my next set of feathers from Etsy. I’ve placed an order for this peacock mix from Stonezn Stix and I can’t wait to get it!
